Guess what I did last Saturday. Just guess.
HUZZAH! Foot tattoo!
I'd been wanting to get something on my foot for a while. About a month ago my tattoo artist friend posted a tattoo flash he drew up on Facebook that I loved -- a poppy. Sadly that got snatched up pretty damn quick but he offered to draw up something he felt would look good on my wee foot.
I'm not going to lie, I was scared the morning of the tattoo. Not for the pain, but in my mind I was worried about bleeding. Yeah, bleeding. I don't do well with blood, and seeing as there are so many veins that run along the top of the foot, I began dreaming up worst case scenarios. I'm awesome like that.
The pain was horrible. For me, it was a close second to child birth. I couldn't believe how bad it hurt, and that was just the line work. I kept clenching my fists and teeth, looking around the shoppe at something to distract me. Another dude who was getting his arm done regaled the tale of when his fiance was getting her foot done -- he could hear her screaming from the bottom of the stairs. I can believe it.
An hour and a half later I was up walking around with this beauty. I love what my artist did and how he coloured it. Initally I wanted green leaves, but I'm super happy with just shading. Looks damn purdy if you ask me.
I'll eventually get around to posting real photos. My foot is currently at that itchy flaky stage. Awesome, right? I'm guessing macro shots probably wouldn't be so cool right now. (Or maybe they would be? What the hell do I know?!)
Anyone else there had their foot tattooed? What was it like for you? Tell me!
Later gators!

mine was about 3 hours of work, and the healing was almost as bad! it was so swollen, and it HURT the entrie time iwas getting tattooed! oh gosh, it was two years ago and i'm still scared to get my other foot. but i love how it looks. yours is so beautiful!
Gorgeous tattoo, may I ask where you go it done at?
I'm getting my dog's par print on my foot. I have a massive tolerance to pain, so I'm interested to see how it goes and will drop you a note after ;)
Love your tattoo...also have a few tattoo's and I must admit my foot was the 2nd most painful...Not as detailed as yours though, only have 7 stars on my right foot. My tattoo on my ribs was the most painful for me.... If you like the pain, get one on your ribs. LOVE your blog btw :-)
I looove it mostly because I love poppies AND tattoos! I don't have any on my feet (because I hate my feet and the idea of showing them to a tattoo artist gives me the antsies) but I'd love to get one and I bet the pain would be pretty redonk. My worst tattoo in terms of pain (surprisingly) was the top of my thigh!
Ooosh, I have a small star on my foot which was my first tattoo, it only took about 10 minutes but I was in so much pain! This looks absolutely gorgeous though :) x
Having undergone a full back tattoo, I didn't think a foot tattoo would pain that much! I've wanted to get one at some point, but I wear too many sandals & my feet get tanned & sometimes blistery. I love yours, though! Do post 'proper' pictures when it's fully healed.
Take Care!
I love it! So purdy! I'd love to have one on my foot as well, I am just such a chicken about the pain! xxx
pretty perfect poppy!

That certainly is a beautiful tat there. But thanks for the description of pain there, as I've now decided that my foot will remain pure as the driven snow as far as tattoos go :)
O_o So pretty. I think the color and shading is fabulous!
I have only one plain and dorky tattoo on my forearm... my husband said his hurt pretty bad but mine wasn't bad at all. It didn't feel good but it wasn't bad either... my nose piercing hurt worse. I have given birth 4 times though so maybe that's why it didn't hurt as bad.
very very very very pretty tattoo!
My second tattoo was on my foot. Mine was nowhere near as large as yours is, and maybe that's why I didn't think that it hurt that bad. I just thought it was kind of an annoying pain...like someone was taking a dull pencil and rubbing it on the top of my foot with a lot of pressure over and over again.
My next foot tattoo will probably hurt though, it's also going to be words but a lot more than just the one I got on my left foot.
Can't wait to see what it looks like when it's all healed!
Looks beautiful!
oh what a beautiful tattoo!
I have a big heart on top of my foot. I was in SO MUCH PAIN. I told the guy I didn't want color anymore. I was like "nope. it looks fine. just stop. I want to go home." and he said "girl you better sit down and let me finish this tattoo!" so I did and I'm glad I did. My plan was to get my other foot tattooed too, but FUCK THAT!
Very pretty. I'd like to get a foot tattoo someday.
That's a beautiful tattoo and I'm a sucker for flowers.
Never got my foot tattooed, but my left ankle is. I had to sit so funky in the chair. My knee was practically dislocated (which was probably a good thing 'cause I would have twitched SO MUCH). I also had to death grip my fiances arms 'cause I was in so much pain. It was my first tattoo and I love it so much. It just sucked royally when she was filling in the bottom part that was right over the bone.
