Our family is growing and we're expecting! I'm so excited, and so are Ben and Raimund.
No, not human babies...axolotl babies! Three babies! I've been wanting to get a few more axolotls to add to the family, and while browsing on Kijiji (Canadian version of Craigslist) I came across an ad from an axolotl breeder. His axolotl had just laid around 150 eggs, so they had more than enough babies to sell off. Of course I inquired. The guy lives 6 hours away from my city, but luckily he's driving down in the next few weeks, so now I'm in nesting mode.
Our apartment is a 2 bedroom, but it's pretty small. Raimund and I are now looking into storage options for some of our belongings to make room for another tank. It's never a good idea to mix an adult axolotl with babies, as they quickly and sadly become food. I have ideas of how to make this work, so we'll see if I can actually execute it.
Anywho, just thought I'd share that exciting bit of news with you all! Hope your Tuesday is going great!

Hopefully you can make room for that other tank. :]
Amazing! You will have to let me know how it goes! I want an office pet and I thought about one of these, but I don't know enough about them to say whether or not they can be left alone all night. Do share what you know about them! I'm so curious :)
That sounds awesome, I think it's cool when people just DO AWESOME THINGS and think of logistic-y things later. Good luck, and post photos!
What the what? I've never even heard of these amazing creatures and now I may be in love! Congrats on the expanding family :)
Congratulations! Are you registered anywhere? ;)
what a weird little creature! Have fun rearing baby version
I think those are the cutest little creatures, but my fiance would freak out entirely!
I've always wanted to have an axolotl! They look like little water dinosaurs :). By the way, there's a short story by one of my favorite writers, Julio Cortazar, called Axolotl. I haven't read it in English, though.
