Despite all of this, I'm sad to report one baby died. We originally started out with 5 babies, but woke up one morning to find one had passed. We're not entirely sure why this particular axie died, as the water is fine and it was fed quite often. It was sad, and also an interesting morning to teach Ben about death. He still doesn't quite get the concept, and is now convinced the dead axolotl will grow bigger in the toilet and become a monster.
Anywho, so far the other axolotls are doing fine. We're left with one wild type (pictured above) and 3 leucistic (pale with pink gills). No names yet, although Raimund has dubbed the one pictured above the Dread Pirate Roberts. The other names will come in time.
Raimund has really taken to caring for the babies. He changes their water daily and loves feeding them. The babies will remain in the seperate containers until they're a bit bigger, and then it'll be off to the tank they go...not the same tank as Murderface though. I want them to be fully grown when they finally meet their elder axolotl.
Speaking of Murderface, he says hello. He's doing well also, swimming about, watching my every move when I walk past him. Goddamn I love me some axolotls.
Later!

I think it's so cute how they poke one eye out at a time to see you!
I showed Lucas (my 7-year-old) these photos on Instagram, and he might have actually said: "awwwww". An axolotl solves my "husband allergic to pets" problem...hmmmm
Yay for bebes! Glad things are (mostly) going well minus the wee dead one. They are pretty cute in their own way.
They are just so darn cute!

D'aww, I cannot get enough of these guys! <3
So much cute! I really really love seeing them! I'm so sorry that one passed away :( It's hard to know if one is ever sick or not well!
How could you not love that face? Sorry to hear one has passed. These things happen.
